What a month costs

A private room with a shared bathroom starts at $800 a month. The Suite — two queen beds, a futon, a private full bathroom and its own kitchenette — is $1,500 a month.

For comparison, a furnished one-bedroom in Anchorage runs around $1,900 a month before you have paid a utility bill. The Suite is a self-contained unit at roughly a fifth less, with the power, heat, water, internet and laundry already in the number.

Who stays here by the month

Travelling nurses on 13-week contracts, Lockheed Martin and JBER contractors, UAA students, seasonal fishermen, electricians, pipeline crews and adventure guides — typically anywhere from one to nine months. Several have stayed through a whole season and come back the next one.

Which room

Room 6 is the one to ask about if you are working — full-size bed, office desk, two windows. Room 2 is the largest of the upstairs rooms and has its own sink. The Suite is the only fully self-contained option. All six rooms →
