Set up for a Smooth, Productive Stay
At Granny McRae’s Alaskan Lodge you’ll find distinct accommodation types for privacy and independence. Select rooms such as Room 4 and Room 6 are private bedrooms located upstairs, each featuring a single comfortable bed (Room 6 has a full-size bed and desk) and shared access to a bathroom with one or two other rooms. Alternatively, the “Lodge-1” studio suite functions as a fully self-contained unit: two queen beds plus a futon, a private bathroom, and its own kitchenette—while still enjoying access to shared common areas. Regardless of the room you choose, check-in is streamlined with key-pad access, and your bedroom door includes a lock.

The amenities and shared spaces are a standout feature of the lodge. Guests enjoy full access to a well-equipped kitchen, a dedicated workspace, high-speed WiFi, and free on-site parking. The common living areas include a spacious mid-century styled home interior with books, board games, musical instruments and a welcoming atmosphere. The outdoor space includes a deck and fire pit, offering an inviting place to unwind after work or sightseeing. Morning rituals are supported through coffee setups including a French press, drip coffee maker and pour-over. The location is highly practical: just minutes from the airport and within walking distance of a coffee shop, bookstore, bowling, bike trails, and a top-rated Italian restaurant across the street.
From a business-traveler perspective, Granny McRae’s hits the right notes. The lodge provides furnished rooms and suites, utilities included in many medium-term stays, and a flexible environment suited for remote work, short-term assignments, or travel with family. Travelers have appreciated this, leaving good reviews. The studio suite holds a rating of 4.9/5 from 10 reviews for cleanliness and accuracy. Private room listings carry ratings in the high 4-star range with strong scores for communication and check-in.
